Meet Leisha

Hi I’m Leisha-And I became a DIYer completely by accident.

A few years ago I started noticing all these women online building furniture, renovating rooms, and designing beautiful homes on real budgets. I remember thinking that looks so cool — I bet I could do that. And then promptly doing nothing about it, because what if I messed it up?

Then life made the decision for me.

After my divorce I found myself a single mom, one income, and a house that turned out to have a lot more problems than the home inspection had caught. I had some basic skills from my dad, enough to handle small things, but anything bigger felt too risky to attempt alone.

That all changed with a collapsed drain, a contractor from the insurance company, and five of the most frustrating months of my life.

What was supposed to be a two-week repair stretched to five months. My daughter’s bedroom floor was torn up. Half the house was sealed off with plastic. And the contractor kept breaking more things than he was fixing — including trying to tell me he couldn’t find any matching flooring anywhere, hoping I’d agree to a costly upgrade rather than push back.

I’d had enough. I called the insurance company, got them out to see the mess, recovered what money I could, and decided: I’m doing this myself.

Some friends came over to help me level the subfloor and get the flooring down. After that, I was on my own — replacing trim, adding quarter round, learning to cope trim, caulking, painting, and cutting and staining a transition strip to bridge the gap between floors. When I stood back and looked at that finished room, knowing I had done every bit of it myself, something shifted.

I was hooked.

That sense of accomplishment gave me the courage to tackle the next repair, and the next one after that. Now I share everything I learn here — beginner-friendly repairs, budget furniture builds, simple decor upgrades, and the home management systems that keep everything running — so you don’t have to figure it all out the hard way like I did.

You don’t need experience. You don’t need a big budget. You just need to be willing to try.
